Feet First Medical supports health care providers and patients at risk of diabetes related foot ulcers with monitoring and management of foot health in the home. Our digital platform uses a smartphone-enabled technology combined with an ergonomic foot camera to generate high-resolution photographic images of the top and bottom of a patient's foot. Sequential images are collected and tracked using the Feet First App and can be exported to a secure portal for review or tele-podiatry consult by a member of the Feet First Medical network of Podiatrists.

Diabetic foot is one of the most significant and devastating diabetes related compilations. It is defined by foot ulcers associated with neuropathy and/or peripheral arterial disease of the lower limb in a patient with diabetes. The prevalence of foot ulceration in this population is 4–10%; however, the condition is more frequent in older patients. [1] While 60 - 80% of foot ulcers will heal, 10 - 15% of them will remain active, and 5 - 24% will lead to limb amputation within a period of 6 - 18 months after the first evaluation. It has been found that 40 - 70% of all non-traumatic amputations of the lower limbs occur in patients with diabetes. Data has shown that foot ulcers precede approximately 85% of all amputations performed in this patient population. [1,2]
